A note from the owner of Omorog Raw Pet Foods
One issue French Bulldog owners are having is licking of the paws and excessive itching of the skin. We first suggest you confirm if your dog has a food allergy. Chicken, Wheat, corn, etc.
If so, STOP feeding your dog what is causing the discomfort. That’s the main reason we stopped feeding kibble and switched to raw food.
What foods cause yeast in dogs?
When some dogs eat ingredients such as chicken, wheat, corn, chemicals or other individual items, ingestion will trigger an allergic reaction that can alter the natural flora and allow an unnatural growth of yeast.
Yeast infections can occur anywhere on a dog's skin, including the belly. They are often seen in areas that are moist, such as in skin folds, especially in “wrinkly” dog breeds. The affected skin may be red, irritated, itchy, greasy, or flaky, and there may be hair loss. When you see a dog licking its paws and feet. Most of the time it’s caused by yeast. When your dog has excessive ear infections? Yeast can be a contributor.
How do you get yeast out of a dog's skin?
Apple cider vinegar - Vinegar changes the pH of your dog's skin so that the yeast cannot grow when it is applied topically. A solution of half apple cider vinegar (we suggest Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother) and half water can be used to bathe your dog or wipe onto the infected areas. If it’s bad I would bathe the dog first. Then get a spray bottle mixed with the solution and spray on the areas that still itches.
What does Caprylic Acid do?
Some research suggests it can be useful in managing yeast infections, skin conditions, digestive disorders, and high cholesterol. Its use as a disinfectant may also help lower the risk of antibiotic resistance. You can take caprylic acid by mouth or apply it to your skin.
Consult with your veterinarian but our vet suggested, bathing your dog in Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar, taking two Caprylic Acid tablets daily, and switching the dog's diet. You should see a great improvement in 30 days.
